You may write a strategic plan for any company you choose. Use a heading for each section, and sub-headings within the sections. Each section should have a short introductory paragraph, each should be placed on its own page, and no section should exceed a page. Include a cover page for the final paper. Use 12 point font. Line spacing is up to you. 1. The Executive Summary is a one paragraph summary of the whole paper. Be sure to clearly describe the plan you finally chose. Don’t be mysterious! 2. The Background section should have five paragraphs – no more, no less. The first should be a summary introduction. The other paragraphs should describe the company’s vision, its current operations, its recent financial performance, and your five-year objectives. 3. For the SWOT Analysis tell the reader about your company’s most important strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. With the introductory paragraph, this means five paragraphs. 4. The Alternatives section is the creative part of the paper. Build on the SWOT and present two possible plans for the company’s future. Each should be complete enough that the reader can understand and evaluate it, and each should include a cost estimate. The first plan should simply be an adjustment to or improvement on your company’s current strategy, but the second should be a major change. In the Choice and Implementation section you must choose one of the two alternatives, reject the other, and explain why. The justification should refer back to the SWOT analysis. Then use your best judgement as to how to complete this section. For example, you might describe your marketing plan, or any changes you’ll need to make in organizational structure, control systems or culture. Include a reference page if necessary. Appendices are not required, but can help. Be sure that you refer to each appendix at least once within the text of the paper.
