You are the project manager in charge of building a house in Ashburn, Virginia. The house is a five-bedroom home estimated to cost $1.2 million dollars and has to be completed in 24 months. Identify at least 20 activities required to complete this house, and assign a basis of cost planning to all identified activities. Please note that 2% of the estimated cost ($1.2 million) must be set aside as contingency. Think of labor, material, and machinery activities as part of your considerations. The total cost plus contingency must not exceed the estimated cost and must not be less than $1 million.

Refer to the budget examples in Chapter 4 "Budgeting the Project" on pages 112-151 of your Project Management in Practice textbook as your guide for creating your budget.

You can create your budget in a Word document table or in an Excel document for submission to your instructor. Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below.

Unit V Project

Project Schedule

You are the project manager in charge of building a house in Ashburn, Virginia. The house is a five-bedroom home estimated to cost $1.2 million dollars and has to be completed in 24 months.

For this assignment, create a Project Schedule, and list the 20 activities required to complete the house that you identified in your Unit IV Project Budget. Assign a schedule to all identified activities. Please be sure to reserve two weeks for contingencies. In other words, you should schedule all the activities and set aside two weeks for contingencies. The entire project (including the two-week contingency period) should equal 24 months.

Refer to the schedule examples in Chapter 5 "Scheduling the Project" in your Project Management Absolute Beginner's Guide textbook and Chapter 8 "Developing the Project Schedule" in your Project Management in Practice textbook as your guide for creating your schedule.

You can create your schedule in a Word document table, an Excel spreadsheet, or MS Project document for submission to your instructor.

Information about accessing the Blackboard Grading Rubric for this assignment is provided below.

Unit VI Project

Project Communication Plan

You created a Project Budget in Unit IV for building a five-bedroom home in Ashburn, VA. In Unit V, you created a Project Schedule for that same project.

Based on your budget and schedule, develop a Project Communication Plan using a PowerPoint presentation that you will present to your sponsor and other stakeholders. Be sure to use the following guidelines:

BBA 2926, Introduction to Project Management 3

Scope: Explain the scope of your house-building project (one to two slides).

Schedule: Explain the schedule status including milestone status (two slides).

Budget: Explain the budget status including milestone status (two slides).

Assumptions/constraints: Explain some of the assumptions and constraints of the project (one to two slides).

Risks: Explain some of the risks that you have identified with the project (one to two slides).

Status: Explain the overall status of the house-building project (one to two slides).

Refer back to your Unit IV Project Budget and Unit V Project Schedule assignments for data and amplifying information for this presentation. Also, refer to Chapter 17 "Managing Project Communications" on pages 237-256 of your Project Management Absolute Beginner's Guide textbook as your guide for creating your presentation.

Your PowerPoint presentation should be 8-12 slides (not including your title and reference slides). Be sure to follow APA formatting for citations and references.

Unit VII Project

Project Monitoring and Control Process Plan

You created a Project Budget in Unit IV for building a five-bedroom house in Ashburn, VA. Next, in Unit V, you created a Project Schedule for the same house-building project. Then, you developed a Project Communication Plan for your sponsor and stakeholders in Unit VI.

Now, assume that your building project is two months behind and has a $100,000.00 cost overrun. This should not be a surprise to you because of the monitoring processes. Identify and discuss some of the monitoring processes that could have alerted you of the schedule and cost problems. What are some of the controlling steps you would take to bring both the schedule and the cost back on track? Be sure to justify your answers.

Refer to Chapter 7 "Monitoring and Controlling the Project" on pages 244-269 of your Project Management in Practice textbook.
Your Project Monitoring and Control Process Plan should be at least two pages including a summarization and conclusion page. If necessary, include data from the Unit IV Project Budget and Unit V Project Schedule to support your schedule and cost problems.
