You are expected to create an annotate bibliography on a topic of your choice, related to the subject of our class. This assignment will have three parts, due at different times: 1) choosing a topic; 2) finding sources; 3) writing the annotated bibliography.

Topic: Due Wed., May 30

For this assignment, you have some flexibility on your topic. Pick a topic that interests you from one of these broad directions:

• A further exploration of a topic related to our class themes: ethics in a consumer society, and ethics on the internet and social media.

• An analysis of some controversial moral issue of interest to you (for example, capital punishment, abortion, lying, etc.),includinga Christian view of the topic (whether specifically Catholic or not.

• A deeper exploration of a theme from Christian theology or ethics related to our first unit (e.g., character, free will, social sin, etc.).

Sources: DueThurs., June 7

For your annotated bibliography, you will need to find five quality sources related to your topic. Two of the sources must be chapters from books, two must be articles from journals, magazines, or reputable web sites, and the fifth can be either a chapter from a book or another article. You will submit a list of sources prior to reading them, and the instructor will provide feedback on your list, suggesting that certain readings be replaced, if necessary.

Annotated Bibliography: DueSun., June 24

Your final annotated bibliography should include all of your sources, listed in alphabetical order by author's last name. For each source, you should write a summary of the reading that is at least 100 words long. The summary should explain the main points of the reading and any interesting facts or ideas you learned from it.

Citations

Both your initial list of sources and the final annotated bibliography should list your sources using the Turabian citation style. Here are some samples of what this style looks like:

Book Chapter
Author Last Name, Author First Name. Title of Book. City: Publishing Company, Year, pages of chapter.

Journal or Magazine Article
Author Last Name, Author First Name. "Title of Article." Title of Journal or Magazine Issue # (Date): pages of article.

Web Article
Author Last Name, Author First Name. "Title of Article." Title of Web Site (Date). http web address.

Some sources may have slight variations, such as having more than one author. Consult the instructor or the web for help, if needed.
