You are considering various sampling plans for an upcoming study. Based on the descriptions below, please tell me whether the sampling plan is: SRS, systematic, stratified, or cluster

1. You assign a number to each person from a list and randomly choose a number for each person you select for the sample.

2. You want to do a study on freshman UTPA students staying in dorms. You assign each dorm a number and randomly select two dorms; all freshman from the selected dorms are surveyed.

3. There are different groups of people that you want information about (e.g., RGV residents, Mexican nationals, and Winter Texans), and you want to sample a certain number from each group.

4. You want every person to have an equal probability of being chosen throughout the entire selection process.

5. You choose one random number to select the first person in the sample and add a constant to that number to choose the other individuals.

For questions 6-8, please refer to the Excel file titled "Sampling" that is within the assignment instructions folder.

6. You want to conduct a simple random sample (SRS) of three people from among your classmates. You use the following randomly generated numbers to select your sample: 17, 33, and 42. Who are the three people you will include in your sample?

7. You want to conduct a systematic sample (SRS) of three people from the class. Based on the number of students in the class and the desired sample size, what is k, the sampling interval?

8. Continuing with the systematic sample problem from the prior question, you use the following randomly generated number to select your sample: 10. Using the sample interval you just calculated in question 7, find the three people who will be selected. What are their names?

9. You want to do a sample with a local waterpark's annual passholder data, which consists of 5,000 people. There are three different types of passes (premium, standard, and basic), and the number of passholders is the following: 1,000 premium, 1,500 standard, and 2,500 basic. If you want to do a proportionate stratified sample of 200 of those people, how many passholders would you sample from the premium, standard, and basic pass types? (Hint: they have to add up to 200)

10. Premium passholders make up 20% (1,000/5,000) of all passholders. Assuming you're equally interested in all three pass types, under what circumstance would it make sense for your sample to consist of more than 20% of the premium passholders? In other words, when would it make sense to oversample the premium passholders?
