Detective Reid Sampson works the night shift in a small police department in Upstate, Louisiana. When he retires next year, Reid has ambitions of writing detective novels. Reid is sent to interview Art Benson, who manages the Quicker Liquor Store that was robbed a few hours ago. Reid enters the following narrative into his notebook and places the notes on top of his desk so his supervisor, Captain Patty Jones, can review them when she arrives the next morning.
