There are many myths surrounding poverty. These myths provide misinformation on who is poor, why they are poor, and what it means to be poor. Outline these myths and the data that refute them. Are there any other myths you would add? If so, which ones and why?
When answering this question, look at how our socialization leads us to accept various myths about the poor as facts. What psychological and social factors are at work here? What myths did you think were true? Did your research cause you to reexamine your beliefs?
