The nonprofit I thought of was Dawn Farm. Dawn Farm is a Michigan addiction treatment center with an emphasis on the recovering community as the most important source of healing and recovery support for our clients. Dawn Farm is a a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Dawn Farm provides a lot of information via advocacy. They had a series of education lectures called The Dawn Farm Series. The Dawn Farm Education Series is a FREE, annual workshop series developed to provide accurate, helpful, hopeful, practical, current information about chemical dependency, recovery, family and related issues; and to dispel the myths, misinformation, secrecy, shame and stigma that prevent chemically dependent individuals and their families from getting help and getting well. The 2016/2017 series marks the 26th year of Dawn Farm providing this educational resource for our community! Dawn Farm holds and annual Jamboree with includes both live and silent auctions, the items up for auction have been donated and all of the proceeds go directly to Dawn Farm.

Some examples of lobbying and advocacy in the community are schools, firefighter stations, boys town, LFS, NFC, Project Harmony etc. A lot of these places mentioned try to advocate first to try to find specific solutions to persistent problems. An example is LFS brought a member of congress to visit the organization so he could see firsthand how federal funding or policy affects day to day operations and the difference it makes. Individuals working in an abortion clinic may organize events to support lobbying activities such as pro-abortion or anti-abortion etc.
