Write a 3-5 page business proposal to a specific audience in which you are offering another company or client your services (sales proposal); seeking funds to do a research project (research proposal); raising funds for a nonprofit organization or for a project (grant proposal); seeking to solve an internal problem in a company you work for(problem-solving proposal); to do a project that would help your company (project proposal).

The two most popular formats you can use for your proposal are a memo format or a business letter format.   No matter the type of proposal you choose, be sure to include the purpose of your proposal, the problem or summaryof the issue you want to address, the solution and the timetable to get it solved or to address the issue, and proposed budget if necessary along with a conclusion (call to action). If you are doing a sales proposal, write it as a letter that includes an introduction, description of your services or proposed product, timetable, costs andqualifications of you and/or your company along with a conclusion.
