When we refer to responsibility we should examine at the diagram of Social Responsibility of Corporations which relate us to ask the two questions about responsibility.
One asks us who's interest should the corporation serve and the second inquires about the responsibilty of responsiveness of the corporation in order to serve that best interest.
Both point to the shareholders and the larger society as the only benefacors. But How is it that Bayer's choice to use that direction as opposed to Tylenol who did the exact opposite when they removed tainted packages and recalled everything back, stopped productions and delivery until they resolved all issues. That choice of good ethics and against all beliefs of economists still stands to prove that people still wanted the product even more yet when it came back. It actually boosted sales, and did not lose any economic benefit that year,and contiues to do so. 
Is it true than that true Resposibility to the wefare of the public as opposed to economic gain can benefit a corporation with the choice of good ethic?
