For example in case of medical supply chain an academic medical center combines operations with general surgery groups. Amazon integrated the logistics function into its value chain to add a competitive advantage based on faster and low cost delivery. In response to this Alibaba can attempt to increase its competitive advantage by either integrating backward or forward. In backward integration, the company can make ties with its suppliers. In forward integration, the company can choose to make ties with its logistics partners. How might government officials in India react differently than those in China?
