What is an annotated bibliography?
An annotated bibliography is a list of citations of books, articles, and other documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph; the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.
1. Find 5 sources on your topic. You may use one reliable website as one of your sources. The rest must come from academic databases or books. (See me if you need help)
2. Pick one citation format (IEEE or APA) and use it consistently throughout the assignment.
3. Each annotation should be 100-200 words in length.
4. Each annotation should:
a. Summarize the main theme and scope of the source - be descriptive and specific
b. Evaluate the accuracy and validity of the source. (Refer to the document on Moodle about evaluation sources of information)
c. Evaluate the authority or background of the author/s. (Refer to same document as above)
d. Describe the usefulness of the source. How is this source of information useful to you and your topic?
