What have you learned from this class that will enable you to be more effective in the future in completing your Proposal and other dissertation milestones? What challenges do you see? How will you overcome these challenges? Use this information and the Milestone Guide to identify the milestones you need to accomplish during your next dissertation class?

If you have successfully completed the first two dissertation milestones in this course, have you followed up with your chair to assure that he/she has initiated the D-10 form (formalizing your dissertation committee including your chair, methodologist, and content expert) and the D-20 form indicating your prospectus is approved?

First and foremost, I will state in advance that t here is no citation of relevant research for this discussion question. Now to address the discussion question.

From the start of this course, I was very excited about the prospectus and getting on the focus of the dissertation phases of my doctoral journey.

Then I had some major personal issues related to my career and job prospect that overwhelmingly concerned me and that issue needed to be addressed quickly because no one is going to pay my bills and I was preventing joblessness and potential homelessness.

Luckily, I am okay until January 2018, and working a plan to stay in the work force and potentially merge my business where I can get a steady flow of income as back up plan to complete the doctoral journey, that is the PhD. I definitely do not want to fall under the ABD (All but dissertation category), that would be a definite waste of my three years and definitely would have been like throwing money in a fire pit.

Now to address the discussion question at hand, I am still in the game right now. However, after seeing the grades and status up to this point, and still reviewing chapter 2 proposal draft, I am no where near at the level of dissertation milestone, and there is a lot of work and refinement that must be done.

August 28, 2017 is the first day of the fall 2017 semester at the colleges I teach at, I will have to carry my lap top and all the hard copies to review the information and comments and reviews in the near future for the doctoral dissertation drafts and will definitely utilize the readings and study during my office hours.

I know that during my office hours the first two months, no one shows up until it is closer to finals and the end of the semester (so that is working in my favor, but you never know). I will need to review more of the resources that was provided yesterday by Dr. Danielle Rowell about the literature review and in the near future schedule with Dr. Danielle Rowell to ask for a webinar that I can attent related to the propoosals and dissertation templates.

The textbook is helpful in terms of understanding what a literature review is supposed to be, however applying the theoretical models of the textbook into the templates and addressing all the questions in the templates is another story. The plus side to this dillemna is that the feedback is given now.

I do understand that this is an indepedent task and transitioning from student to expert in the field is going to have it's ups and downs, however consistently putting in time, even if I do not sleep is a sacrifice that will be made. I need to clean up and address the comments in the chapter 1 and chapter 2 proposal before submitting the last assignment and still waiting on my content expert to reply to me.

In regards to the D-10 form and D-20 form, I honestly am concerned of whether my level and standard of dissertation prospectus and proposal draft is good enough to move further to the next step. I honestly can say, that it will depend on how chapter 1 and chapter 2 proposal is turned in, graded, and if the chair says it meets the requirement. This is my honest assessment and response to this discussion question.
