What are the adverse side effects of over stimulation of, Ask an Expert

What are the adverse side effects of over stimulation of the pituitary gland? Other than the obvious answer, growth, what else can happen? I mean in more general terms does overstimulation of any gland lead to?

A. Growth/increased activity of the gland in general

B. Desensitisation of the gland to that specific stimulus

C. The gland reacts to the stimulus when the stimulus is present then returns to its normal state when stimulus in not present.

Thank you for your time, it would be awesome if I could get an answer from someone educated in Human physiology.
