Wellness programs are so important in the environment of our organizations, however, the problem is that there is no real cost savings up front and the savings are usually soft dollars - in other words, dollars that are not being spent but that are actually being saved. I have worked for some organizations that truly validate this type of savings and do all they can so that they can save on the premiums - these are the learning organizations that value what is not being spent. However, the other side is the organizations that are paying huge deductibles and as such saving in that area has never been an experience - in other words, if they have been doing it this long then why change it?
