We will use a modified briefing document format: You will use the "good parts" version of writing a briefing document. The goal is to remove all "fluff" and just provide strong content. For content that is not yours write (cite) beside it---you do not need to give the reference, but show that you know you need to cite it.

Please structure your answer so it is in this format:

Introduction Paragraph: You will give a full introductory paragraph that has a catchy, creative hook, a thesis/topic sentence/creative hook that give the overview of the entire document.

Body paragraph: Topic sentence (Interview Question 1)

3-5 Main ideas in bullet point format

Body paragraph: Topic sentence (Interview Question 2)

3-5 Main ideas in bullet point format

Body paragraph: Topic sentence (Interview Question 3)

3-5 Main ideas in bullet point format

Conclusion Paragraph: You will give a full conclusion paragraph that reconnects with your catchy introduction and ties the main ideas in the body paragraphs into a strong conclusion.

Final product: To place this in context, imagine that you have an interview with your dream job agency in the PRTM field. Prepare for your interview by writing a thoughtful briefing document that could be given to your interviewer for the hiring committee to review following the interview in case you don't have time to say everything you want to say. This assignment will be graded on a 100-point scale.

Introduction/Conclusion

While there are 3 main questions posed below, blend together a few of the ideas for your introduction and conclusion paragraphs. Set the stage for what you will discuss in the introduction, answer these questions and then tie it all up with a bow in the conclusion.

Interview Questions:

Question 1: We all have different reasons for enrolling in a Foundations of PRTM course. For some students, it was a requirement for their major, while for others it might have been a suggestion by a friend or academic advisor. Regardless of the reason you enrolled in the course, (1) what is your personal philosophy of recreation, leisure, and play? A philosophy is a personal belief that has been shaped by knowledge learned.

In your personal philosophy, you will discuss what you believe to be true about R, L, and P as well as reasons why. You will address the value of R, L, P, and use the content we have learned over this semester to help back up your personal beliefs. This is where you ask yourself - what do you believe and why?

Question 2: You will then tie this into (2) how will your personal philosophy of R, L, P guide professional and personal decisions in the future? Some of you might have a clear vision of your future career interests while others might not.

That's okay! Some of you will remain in the field and others won't - that's okay too! This is your time to think about the "so what?" of what you have learned. How will your beliefs about R, L, P, act as a guide for personal and professional choices and decisions?

Question 3: Now, based on your philosophy as well as how you think your philosophy will guide you in the future, (3) what is a current issue in PRTM that you think you will likely encounter in the next 5 years, either as a professional or as a private citizen?

How will your personal philosophy of R, L, P guide how you navigate the issue?

To answer this question, you will need to think about a current issue in PRTM that is relevant to you and your interests. How have you or how might you encounter this issue in the future?

How will you navigate the situation using your personal philosophy of R, L, P? This is your opportunity to think about where you stand and why on some of the very interesting issues that are influencing our field as well as how you think you would handle or address the situation.
