We live at a turning point. Starting in the year 2007, for the first time in human history, more people will live in the urban areas than in rural areas.

Tasks:

Assess the causes of the spread of suburbs and of environmental, social, and economic impacts of sprawl. Overall, do you think the spread of urban and suburban development, which most of the people label sprawl is predominantly a good thing or a bad thing? Do you think it is inevitable? Provide reasons for your answer.
