Guidelines

• This question requires you to think independently and demonstrate your understanding of the concept through application and/or use of examples in a form of an essay. You are encouraged to use sources other than your textbook to inform your essay (such as scholarly journal articles) and to demonstrate or apply theory by example (such as from reports in the business media).
• This assessment requires you to write an essay (maximum 1000 ± 10% words) meaning that your submission should have a beginning (introduction), middle (body of the essay) and end (conclusion). In this essay, you can include elements of report writing such as numbered headings and bullet-point lists. Please use them appropriately to enhance the clarity of your message. Please do not use sub- headings, table of contents, or appendices.
• Use of sources other than the textbook means you are required to research other sources to strengthen the arguments in your essay. In addition to the academic literature you are also expected to search relevant business articles in reputable publications such as the Australian Financial Review, Business Review Weekly, Fortune, etc. You are expected to cite at least 3 quality references (such as from relevant journal articles and reputable business publications) to support the argument in your essay. You are additionally encouraged to demonstrate the argument in your essay by citing examples from the business media.
• Please paraphrase and use your own words when you use materials from sources such as the textbook, articles, business magazines. Please do not directly copy or quote from these sources. Please reference all the sources you use which means you are required to provide references in the text (in-text citations) as well as a reference list at the end of the essay. Use Harvard style of referencing.
• In-text citations contribute to the word count but not the list of references.
• Use academic language and writing style to communicate your ideas clearly.
