Unit I Research Paper Topic

For your first submission toward your Unit VII Research Paper, you will need to choose a contingency theory of leadership that you would like to write about (see Chapter 13). Your choices are the following:

leader-member exchange (LMX)

the normative decision model

the Situational Leadership model

the contingency model

the path-goal theory

other contingency theory that you find from a creditable source Once you have chosen your topic, you will need to submit an outline of your preliminary research with at least two scholarly references. Within your outline, discuss why you chose your topic, possible subtopics for focus (at least two), possible research questions you could investigate, and the relevance of your two scholarly references to your research. Make sure that your topics, research questions, and references provide a description of the model, leader behaviors, follower behaviors, and any other elements of the theory you chose. Your outline should be at least two pages in length, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font, with appropriate APA style writing.

Unit III Case Study

In a 500-word APA formatted paper, respond to one of the questions below:

You are an engineering office manager and one upper-level manager has repeatedly used the company credit card for personal expenses. How do you handle the situation?

You are an engineer with authority over human resources and an employee comes to you and says, "I want to tell you something about someone, but you can't tell anybody." He then reveals that someone pushed another employee in the company kitchen. What action do you take?

You are an engineer in a firm and although you are not an accountant, company policy now requires you to sign off on the tax filings for the department you oversee. You have never been a "numbers person" and do not fully understand the documents. What do you do? Your response should include at least one source. The textbook or other scholarly source can be used.

Unit IV Research Paper Outline

For your second submission toward your Unit VII Research Paper, you will need to submit a draft of your research paper with several components to ensure you are on the right track. Include the following:

an outline of your research and the intended direction of your argument

at least five scholarly resources you have found from the CSU Online Library that contribute to your topic This research draft should be double spaced with Times New Roman 12 point font, and use appropriate APA style writing. While there is no minimum requirement for your draft, you should be thorough in your research so your professor (or a colleague) could adequately determine your intended research and the direction you are going with your paper.

Unit V Case Study

After reading the Minicase entitled "Integrating Teams at Hernandez & Associates" on pages 436-437 of the textbook, write a minimum one-page response that addresses the following:

Similar to many leaders, Marco has a team in place and does not have the luxury of building a new team to adapt to the changing business environment his firm now faces. Use the Team Leadership Model (TLM) to help Marco diagnose the problems faced by the firm and identify leverage points for change. o Consider the major functions of the TLM-input, process, and output. Where do most of the firm's challenges fall? o What are the team's goals for outputs?

Identify potential resources for Marco and his team in implementing a strategy to change the way they do business at Hernandez & Associates. Be sure to utilize APA style writing and include in-text and reference citations from the textbook to support your assertions. Other scholarly sources can be used if needed.

Unit VI Case Study

Review the introduction to Chapter 1 on pages 2-3. In a minimum one-page response, answer the following question: Given the description of the leadership situation facing the airplane crash survivors described on pages 2-3, how would leader-member exchange (LMX), the normative decision model, the Situational Leadership theory, the contingency model, and the path-goal theory prescribe that a leader should act? Be sure to utilize APA style writing and include in-text and reference citations from the textbook to support your assertions. Other scholarly sources can be used if needed.

Unit VII Research Paper

In this research paper, you will submit the research paper topic with the answers to the following bullet points:

How does this theory address organization change?

What are the leader's behaviors and characteristics?

What are the follower's behaviors and characteristics?

What situational characteristics does this theory work in?

Provide two examples of this theory in action. (This can be based on theory or your own experiences.) Your paper should be formatted to APA standards. This includes a title page and a reference page. Your research paper should include the follow sections: BBA 3651, Leadership 4 research paper topic or introduction  name of the theory This paper should be a minimum of eight pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages). Be sure to include least five scholarly sources from the CSU Online Library in addition to the textbook.
