Chapter 6, "Social Development in Middle Childhood" In this chapter, the author outlines the hallmarks of social and moral development during middle childhood. Focus on the theories of moral development, as well as how social skills and peer relations develop during middle childhood.

In your own words, explain the concept of emotional intelligence, including how it develops during middle childhood. Then, describe at least two specific ways in which a child's emotional intelligence might influence his or her social development and/or peer relations.
