Two graduate students are discussing efforts within the global trade system to reduce trade’s negative effects on the environment. One student says, “Sure there maybe pollution effects, but they’re a small price to pay for a higher standard of living.” The other student agrees saying, “Yeah, those tree huggers’, they’re always exaggerating those effects anyway. Who cares if some little toad in the Amazon becomes extinct? I sure don’t”
