Topic: Reducing the queues in Starbucks Cafe?

Need help to do the Arena on Starbuck coffee , the information will give you some idea about our project, what I need is only to do the arena on current and improved system

Generate 20 more customers

We need input analyzer and arena (current and improved)

But we need to generate more data by using excel or minitab to put it in data analyzer to find the type like normal distribution or etc.1. Problem Statement and motivation

Starbucks café is considered one of the most popular and demanded cafés in Qatar University from students and college facility. For that reason, queues had become long and students struggle every day to get their coffee and waste their time in waiting. Therefore in this study we analyzed the system of Starbucks Cafe and identified customers' needs in faster services and defined the problem as long waiting time consumed per customer, which indicates a low efficiency and effectiveness in the current service.

Solving this problem is important because of its location in an educational area where students should be provided with a comfortable environment. Hence, decreasing waiting time affects their educational performance by using the time lost to achieve more, to solve that we need to use engineering knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to predict and evaluate the results obtained from such system.

Starting with taking random samples and analyzing data using different computer software such as Minitab or input analyzer to identify the data distribution, then divide the system into sub-systems to and narrow the area of the problem and locate it more precisely, after that we try to simulate the real-life system or sub systems in Arena software to analyze each process separately and predict the outcomes of such system like, if it meets the goals of the manager by comparing it to standard values. Therefore, using simulation techniques and software helps in identifying problems with the lowest possible risks and expenses, also easier to solve the faced problems.

Aims and objectives:

- The aim of this project is to investigate how to minimize/reduce:

I. Number of students' queue lines.
II. Average waiting time taken by students.

To have more effective and efficient system (nothing is more important than time, especially for students)

- The objectives of the project are:

1. Visit Starbucks Cafe-Science building.

2. Define the main problem at Starbucks Café (students who spend a lot of time in long queues).

3. Analyze the chosen problem (by recording):

I. Wait in Queue and record the average waiting time.
II. Give the waiter the order.
III. Wait for the order in the other queue and record again.
IV. Repeat the process and record time for each student.

4. Perform/Implement the method and prototype to improve/evaluate the effectiveness of the Café's process.

5. Take more data from Starbucks café itself regarding the waiting time.

6. Investigate the effects on students when they wait for so long in queues.

7. Draw structure chart to represent the process (with the improvement)

3. Description of System under study:

The system under study:

Starbucks Café, Science and Art Building-Qatar University, AlDafna.

Boundaries of the system under study:

All the queues in the casher area at Starbucks café. Where the major of the delay to the process happens.

System elements:

The elements of the system are the customers, servers, and the raw material.

- The entities are the customers which the facility and students of Qatar university.

- During the entire process of system, the servers are working on one shift, which is from (7AM-7pm) total of 12 hours.

- The machines usually are Coffee machine, freezers, smoothie blender, espresso coffee machine, orange juicer squeezing.

- The products are considered as hot drinks, sandwich, cakes, smoothie, and iced drinks.

- The raw materials are teacups, cups, glasses, milk, sugar, coffee bean, flavor, water, chocolate, and spoons.

To summarize, entities are students. Recourses are the servers.Simulation In Arena
