Topic: Public Relations Research

The topic for the Final Report is the same as the focus group, "Should the State of Tennessee Require 'hands-free' cellular phone use in automobiles?"

This assignment involves the following actions:

1. NOTE: WE ARE NOT USING ANYTHING FROM THE RECENT SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE ON A POTENTIAL HIGH-SPEED RAIL PROJECT YOU DESIGNED. THAT WAS AN ASSIGNMENT BY ITSELF.

2. The results from a mail survey is provided to you in the Cellphone Survey Data Set document. This fictitious data set is provided as there is not enough time to actually mail out a survey, crunch the numbers and the cost of doing so.

3. Interpret the data set as part of your report.

4. Make sure to review and utilize the Final Report Template.

Your report must be detailed and in a professional format that you would feel comfortable submitting to the Governor (of course not actually submitting to the Governor, but hypothetically). For example, one or two sentences in the executive summary is not a summary and tells us nothing. Your report must be free of grammar and spelling errors.

Below is further information for several of the sections:

Under SITUATION ANALYSIS in the Research Report Template, you already have your two sources from the FOCUS GROUP ASSIGNMENT that you included in the Secondary Research section. For this final assignment, you can copy and paste the information from the two sources you provided in the Focus Group assignment into the Situation Analysis section for the Final Report.

Under RESEARCH QUESTIONS, you need to come up with at least two or three general research questions for the overall report. This is not entering the questions from the Focus Group or Mail Survey. These questions are the research questions for the entire report. For the research questions, think about the general premise of the overall topic: "Should the State of Tennessee require 'hands-free' cellular phone use in automobiles?" Technically, you would come up with the research questions before you conduct your focus group and mail survey. The research questions would determine how you would proceed ahead with the project and thus, a focus group and mail survey were conducted to get data. One example of a research question can be: What are the attitudes of the affected population in Tennessee towards the requirement of 'hands-free' cellular use in automobiles? You may be able to rephrase that better and I encourage you to do so. Develop another research question, even better if you have a total of three.

Under RESULTS, you will be providing the questions and results from the mail survey data set provided and inserting it into the RESULTS section. Simply copy and paste the questions and answers from the Survey Data Set.
