TOPIC 2 GOOD GRADES IN AN ONLINE CLASS

Follow the example below. Thesis: Rome fell because of pressure from the barbarians, a stagnant economy and a lack of political leadership.

(Body Paragraph 1 begins with) TS1: One reason Rome fell was the pressure from the northern tribes of the Verangeans.

(Body Paragraph 2 begins with) TS2: Another cause of Rome's demise was the economy.

(Body Paragraph 3 begins with) TS3: Perhaps the largest problem that led to Rome's downfall was the political leadership or lack thereof at the time.

Write thesis statements for each topic then write topic sentences (first sentences) for each body paragraph. Hint there are five paragraphs, how many topic sentences in a five paragraph essay? Each topic sentence should identify one cause (reason) for the problem or event.

Sometimes you'll want to narrow the topic for a good cause paper. Three reasons for global warming is a good environmental cause paper because it takes a huge idea (the environment) and makes it more manageable for a five-paragraph paper.
