Topic - Banking Information System.

Objective:

You are encouraged to see the role of a project manager within the broader perspective of strategic business management, understanding where projects come from and why they are selected.

Outcomes:

1. Identify and explain the changing social and organizational effects, on both individuals and society as a whole, of information systems and technology projects.

2. Evaluate the tools and techniques that need to be applied for the effective and successful implementation of a computer based project
Tasks: Read the following tasks, understand and present your response in a document not more than 10 to 12 pages.

Assume that you are a project manager in ABC Systems Development Company which is located in KOM. ABC Company undertakes projects based on specific client requirements. These projects typically include development of:

- Transaction Processing Systems
- Business Intelligence Systems
- Management information Systems
- HR Systems
- Hospital Management Systems
- Banking Information Systems
- Inventory Management Systems
- Payroll Systems
- CRM Systems
- Knowledge Management Systems
- Logistic Management software

Choose any one of the above or any other systems development project or a research based project of your liking (if you are choosing any other system/project, prior approval from your faculty need to be taken) which you would like to head and complete the tasks given:

Task 1:

- Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables, which must

- General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task2 & task3
- Resources identified

The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.

Task 2:
a. Write the scope statement for the selected project. Your scope statement must include :
- Specific objectives
- Cost
- Duration
- Proposed technology that will used in the project
You can read the research paper "Significance of Scope in Project Success" by Muhammad Nabeel Mirza and an article "Improve Project Success with Better Scope Management" by Avneet Mathur which highlights the key aspects needed to consider while capturing the scope of the project.

b. Identify the stakeholders for the selected system and propose ways to manage them. The following will provide the basis for your analysis. You can use the template given below for reference.

Task 3:

Identify any two Project Management software (excluding MS-Project) and present a synopsis showing a comparison between the two. Highlight the strengths and weakness of the PM tools under consideration in your own words. Also suggest a suitable tool in your opinion by providing justification, from two, for planning and scheduling the selected project.

The synopsis should not be more than one page and should be competently presented. Any referenced extra resource should be added as appendix.
