"Fully electric cars-the so-called zero emission cars- will remain subject to the low 4% additional tax liability for lease cars, junior finance minister Eric Wiebes announced last week."(DutchNews 2015) The Netherlands government plans to capitalize off future plans to ban petroleum and diesel cars by 2025 as stated in the DutchNews.nl.

"The Dutch parliament has taken the first step in banning petrol and diesel cars from sale in the Netherlands from 2025."(DutchNews 2014) Even with the support of the Dutch parliament there was strong opposition from the VVD (People's Party for Freedom and Democracy), they passed the motion and now the cabinet must come up with a plan of action. The leader of the parliamentary VVD party Halbe Zijlstra believe the potential car ban unrealistic. These was an unexpected turn of events that Tesla Motor Inc. could only dream of.
