This module focuses on the role of the coach as a facilitator of change.

Using your current job as a reference for this assignment, or one that you have experience with and are very familiar. Then, assume that you have been tasked with coaching a new employee in this role.

With this in mind, please complete the following:

From Chapter 7:

1a. Describe the nature of the job, and it's strategic importance to the organization. In other words, how does successful performance of the job directly support the organization in achieving its goals?

1b. Identify at least 2 essential functions of the job- i.e., those tasks, duties, or responsibilities that are crucial for successful performance of the job.

1c. Describe the performance criteria and performance standards that are associated with the essential job functions that you identified in

1b. 'Performance criteria' are the specific objectives an employee will be held accountable for, such as "Be accessible to clients and coworkers" as a criteria for customer service excellence.

- A 'performance standard' for this criteria could then be "Clients and coworkers are always able to make contact with this employee within 1 hour"; "Clients and coworkers sometimescannot make contact with this employee within 1 hour"; " Clients and coworkers can rarely make contact with this employee within 1 hour" From Chapters 8 - 10

2a. Describe in detail how you would assess a coachee's readiness for change (both KSAs and motivation).

2b. Based on your response for 2a, describe in detail what your action plan would be for each stage (4) of the competence development model described in the Facilitating Changesupplement. Your plan should include:

- how you would observe the coachee

- what measures you would use to assess competence at each level

- what specific actions you might take to facilitate their learning

2c. What forms of coachee resistance to the change would you anticipate, and what specific actions would you take to overcome that resistance?

2d. What time frame would you feel is appropriate for the coachee to reach Level 4?

3. What challenges for you as the coach would you anticipate, and how would you prepare to meet those challenges?
