Assess multistep processes utilizing a variety of parameters such as bottleneck, capacity, utilization, flow rate, rework, and cycle time. (CO1, CO4)

DISCUSSION PROMPT

For this discussion, you will assume the role of a consultant who has been hired to conduct a value stream analysis. You will select a business process and develop a process flow diagram. You will upload your process flow diagram so your instructor and peers can review it and then answer questions about the process you selected.

TASKS

Select a business process and develop a process flow diagram.

Upload your process flow diagram so your instructor and peers can review it.

Answer the following questions about the process you selected: ?What are some of the questions (no more than three) you would ask the process owner?

Why would you ask those questions?

Identify the supply and demand components of inventory and explain how the levels of each may change during a routine operating cycle (say a business day or month). For example, if you select Subway and their sandwich making, your demand is a hungry consumer while your supply is your ingredients such as fresh bread and your operating cycle is one day, with variation around typical lunch and dinner hours.

How would your inventory change if you moved your business to another country or area of operations (select a specific area you would move the operations to)?

.When responding to at least two classmates, consider their process flow diagram.

Did they leave any steps out or would you recommend changing the order of the steps (maybe do two steps in parallel vice series)? Explain.

Also, comment on their new location and how they feel the inventory would change. Explain why you agree or disagree.
