Think about a team you are now on or a recent team of which you were a member. Describe the boundaries faced by the team and discuss what you could do (or could have done) to help span the boundaries to facilitate team performance.

The team I recently left was much disorganized. I worked for an healthcare organization. The day-to-day operations of the environment can be tedious at times. Most of the conflict was within the actual department. Team members always were complaining about each other. There was no direct communication between the team. During one of our team meetings, the manager suggested a morning huddle prior to the work hours. The huddles would give team members updated information about the daily schedules. Apparently, it only happened once which was not successful. In monthly meetings, the team members would suggest ideas to resolve the workplace conflict. It would work for a split second, and then it would go downhill. I am not sure how they are handling things now. Hopefully they will acknowledge the root cause to find a valid solution.

There several ways the boundaries teams face can be resolved. Acknowledge the conflict and work on finding a resolution. As a team it is important to have discussion on the impact of conflict based on teams performance. Team members agreeing to a cooperative process working together to resolve any differences. Communication is important process when everyone can voice their opinions without bias (groupthink)."Conflict can be constructive as long as it is managed and dealt with directly and quickly. By respecting differences between people, being able to resolve conflict when it does happen, and also working to prevent it, you will be able to maintain a healthy and creative team atmosphere" (Mindtools, n.d.).
