There is little known about the very young and very old athlete. Choose one of these populations and discuss why you feel they are part of active population.  What reservations do you have of this population being active in a sport? Is there a sport you feel this population should stay away from? If so, what are they and why. Discuss what can be occurring in the body that may include what you are concerned about with reservations.

A 69 year old woman who chooses to taking on a sprint triathlon.  Reservations: can include injury to the shoulder for swimming, decreased ROM, overuse syndrome.... but then again, this can be any age group! Maybe she should stay away from the running because........... why?  This should lead to a good discussion among the group!
