There are numerous ways that you can define and operationalize the concept of innovativeness. Unfortunately, the abundance of definitions have created lots of confusion. As a result, we may be talking about totally different ideas and phenomena while using the same word "innovation." You will find that assigned articles devote significant attention to the operationalization of innovativeness - the way it is measured. There are lots of alternatives at your disposal: number of patents filed/received, R&D expenditures, personnel skills and knowledge, number of new products, subjective likert scales, and so forth. In your opinion, is there any "superior" method of measuring innovativeness? If you think that there is one, explain why. If you believe that there is no superior method, briefly explain why and how you should use multiple/different measures. In either case, please supply example(s) in your answer.
