The VRIO model is a framework to strategically analyze a resource of an organization to determine its worth.

This assignment is to be a complement to the Employer SWOT paper due later in this course.

Identify a specific resource  of your employer and analyze it using the VRIO model.

The VRIO model consists of a series of questions to determine the strategic value of a resource. The following briefly outlines the VRIO model.

V (value): Does a resource enable a firm to exploit an opportunity or neutralize a threat?

R (rarity): Is a resource currently controlled by only a small number of competing firms?

I (imitability): Do firms face a cost disadvantage in obtaining or developing?

O (organization): Do the firm's policies support the exploitation of the resource? (culture, structure, compensation, controls)
