The two databases that I have chosen to use in order to help research and support my EBP proposal are the CINAHL and ProQuest Nursing Allied Health Source databases (GCU, 2017).

When researching topics, it is best to use scholarly sources because they provide peer-reviewed filters, and contain only scholar literature (Rider University, 2017).

The authority and trustworthiness from scholarly databases are almost always a guaranty (Rider University, 2017). To increase credibility in your arguments, it is best to use peer-reviewed articles that has been written and reviewed by experts (Utah State University, n.d.).

Scholarly databases consist of journals, books, magazines, reports, and even streaming video and much more that can be narrowed down by subject, which can then decrease time looking through none relevant information (Rider University, 2017). Scholarly database searches can even be narrowed down by date, language, publication type, and research articles (Rider University, 2017).

Another reason that scholarly databases are preferred by researchers is the ability to seek out peer-reviewed information, which list who wrote the article and their credentials, along with footnotes and sources (Rider University, 2017). These scholarly articles are not for profit, and are intended for an audience with knowledge in the specific topic (Rider University, 2017).

Google scholar is a search engine, which is a subset of internet academic publishers or even universities that can be easily searched over broad literature across many topics (University of Minnesota, 2017). Google scholar searches are mostly used for multitude of document types such as books and articles across a vast majority of disciplines (University of Minnesota, 2017).

The issue with google scholar research is the date of many articles are old, and not maintained with clearly updated information, along with limited advanced features to search by title, and provides limited searches with alternative words for specific topics (University of Minnesota, 2017).

The information pulled from a google scholar search is not guaranteed, but could be a good tool to check against the library database for peer-reviewed literature (University of Minnesota, 2017). Google scholar searches lacks the ability to focus on highly developed subjects, or sophisticated searches, so the use of a scholarly database would serve best to use when researching a topic (University of Minnesota, 2017).

A general internet search engine is not regulated, difficult to verify, and could be even have information duplicated multiple times, which is not filtered and leads to none reliable information (Rider University, 2017).

Information on the internet can come from anyone that has access to the internet, and may even require a payment to access the information (Rider University, 2017). These internet sites can be free or charge for the information, and it can be news, blogs, videos, pictures, or music with no review of quality or validity of material (Rider University, 2017).

The internet searched information does not have advanced search options and pulls information using and search algorithm (Rider University, 2017). When using the internet for information, it would be important to evaluate the materials you find before using, which can be very time consuming, with determining the credibility and reliability of the source (Rider University, 2017).
