The spiritual:

First Paragraph--Introduction The Introduction is a separate paragraph that clearly identifies the spiritual activity, and the reasons the author chose this spiritual activity. The Introduction also engages the reader with specific details regarding any of the above.

Second Paragraph The second paragraph very clearly describes the spiritual experience and offers significant details about it.

Third Paragraph The third paragraph fully engages the reader by discussing two or three of the larger questions about the author's own spirituality with significant details and specific supporting examples. (See Spiritual Experience Reflection Questions)

Fourth Paragraph The fourth paragraph not only clearly explains the values, but also expounds upon the connections that the author feels between his/ her own values, using supporting examples and details.

Fifth Paragraph--Conclusion The conclusion is a separate paragraph that thoroughly explains how the author has been impacted in the spiritual experience and includes specific examples and supporting details.

Questions for the third paragraph. (choose two or only of these.)

1. When I think about my spiritual experiences, what are my deepest feelings?

2. Am I comfortable with things of a spiritual nature? Why or why not?

3. What is it that nourishes me spiritually?

4. Who are the people in my life (past and present) I admire most? What is it that I admire about them? What would it take for me to emulate their actions/ behaviors/ attitudes?

5. Who have I had an influence on, either positively or negatively? How do I feel about that?

6. What are my hopes, desires, and/ or concerns about my life and about the kind of person I want to become?

7. What are the obstacles that keep me from living a spiritual life?

8. What experiences in my life have inspired me to make a change in my behavior or attitude?

9. Are there things in my life that I need to change or that challenge me?

10. What is it that I truly value? How do I express those values?
