The purpose of this assignment is to give you practice dealing with employees who are not meeting standards. There are two deliverables: the preliminary documents and the Role Play Interview documents. This is an individual assignment to help you prepare for the role play in week 3. The preliminary documents include a problem statement and probing interview questions. Identify an issue which is hindering the employee's performance. You may choose any issue which is relevant in your workplace. The performance issue involves using the Internet on company time. Write a 1-2 paragraph problem statement which identifies the employee's performance issue and includes any necessary background information or data about the situation. Finally, develop 5-8 probing questions that you will ask during the interview. These questions should be "what" and "why" questions to help you determine the cause of the employee's performance issue. Ask open-ended questions which will allow the employee to elaborate and will allow you to ask further questions. The problem statement and the probing questions are worth 15 points each. The problem statement and the 5-8 probing questions should be combined into one file.
