The Literature Review should be 1400 words (10% up or 10% below).
Literature Review
This task will take the form of a research proposal and literature review. You should choose a topic from your field of study to research. You should then analyse three different texts on the topic. There will also be a short reflective task to bring together what has been learnt. 
Students will produce a report format document comprising of the following:
Research Proposal approx. 300 words (10%) 
Text Analysis 1 - 3 approx. 300 words each - 900 in total (80%)
Reflection approx. 200 words (10%)
These should be compiled into a final piece of work at 1400 words.  
1. Research Proposal (approximately 300 words)
You will research a topic related to your field of study. Once you have chosen a topic, you will discuss it with your teacher for approval. Your proposal will address the following questions: 
What am I going to focus on?
What are the main issues that currently exist in this area? 
Why have I chosen this area? 
Think carefully about and spend time reading around the topic you choose. It is a good idea to choose something you want to learn more about, not something you find easy.
2. Text Analysis (approximately 900 words)
You should choose three texts related to your topic of research and produce a summary and a critical examination of each one. Use your notes from the document Critical Evaluation of Sources (attached to this document) to structure your writing. 
You will be marked on the quality of your analysis and your choice of relevant and challenging texts. For further help with critical reading you should read the document Reading Critically (attached to this document).
3. Reflection (approximately 200 words)
In this task you must summarise what you have learnt:
identify how your knowledge of the subject has improved
identify areas for further research
make a personal comment on the assignment (i.e what you found most difficult or interesting)
