The Gap in Perspectives between Baby Boomers and Millennials

Each generation from the Baby Boomers to the Millennials has its differences, and just like any human, generations have their own respective norms, beliefs, and personalities. Individuals born in the 1980's deviated from Baby Boomer perspectives[word choice] and manufactured their own norms that were tailored to outcomes that influenced their generation Clarify what this means. The Millennial generation has been[tense] shaped by the time of the worst economic downturn, the Great Recesion, as the similarities in these time periods erupted. Clarify/explain But the differences between the Baby Boomers and the Millennials is a discussion that is much more current[punctuation] and the differences hold[word choice] greater presence in our day and age. Three crucial dissimilarities between Baby Boomers and Millennials that are at the center of debates are financial security positions awkward, perspectives on social issues, and reactions to technology. Streamline(must be smoother, flow better)

The Millennial generation has been shaped by the Great Depression and explosive student debt, which in turn connected Baby Boomers and The Millennials by the major difference in their financial security positions. During the Baby Boomer generation economic conditions were ideal, in turn giving reason to the generation's stand heavy name Explain. In 1946, countries that achieved victory in WWII experienced a "baby boom", a surge in the number of children born and an inflow[wc, check dictionary] of wealth. Although wealth climbed the growth trajectory awk (awkward), economic conditions remained ideal and purchasing power was reasonable[word choice] for all income levels of the Baby Boomer generation. Unlike this generation, the Millennials had a dream abandoned as they experienced resistance in their positions regarding financial security faulty construction. The more recent generation find it hard to pay off student loans quickly, find a job, and buy houses early on after receiving a college degree. This ultimately leads the Millennial generation to live at home longer and rely on their Baby Boomer grandparents to bestow them with some sort of inheritance.

Moreover, the rise in support for the social issues of same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization in the newest[word choice] generation is among the largest evolution awkward in beliefs on any policy issue over the past decade. Millennials sparked the revolution of same-sex marriage in the late 80s, influencing today's public policy decisions in the majority of first-world Western countries. According to a study investigating same-sex marriage preferences, 70% of Millennials are in favor, far higher than the 38% of Baby Boomers[1]. The number of homosexual[wrong word] individuals has probably not changed drastically over the two different generations, but the number of individuals who reveal their homosexuality has skyrocketed as a result of the support of the Millennials. Furthermore, there may not have yet been a public policy breakthrough regarding marijuana legalization like there has been for same-sex marriage, but Millennials seem to support the issue far more than Baby Boomers. By 2016, 71% of Millennials were in favor of marijuana legalization [2]due to the benefit of the drug as an alternative to artificial[word choice] medicine. From this, the spread of propaganda of the disadvantages of marijuana, such as a cause of cancer, have diminished as the Millennial generation emerged. In conclusion, there is a significant gap between the perspectives of Millennials and Baby Boomers regarding these social issues.

The evolution of technology may be the most distinctive dissimilarity between these two generations. Millennials were born when technological advancements reached their peak, and as a result children were raised with the influence of technology by their side. This ultimately affected their brain development and shaped the Millennial philosophies. Children enrolled in elementary schools have classrooms equipped with the latest technology, such as Smart Boards and Apple computers whilst Baby Boomers grew up in a world of the development of technology.awkward They experienced the first portable telephones in their 20s and Apple computers in their late 30s and had to adjust to the abrupt changes to their norms [wrong word].

Both the Millennials and the Baby Boomers held[wrong word] significant roles in different parts of history but face heavy[wrong word] differences in their perspectives and overall norms. Although Baby Boomers may either be the parents or grandparents to [wrong word] the Millennials, their influences regarding social issues, technology, and financial capabilities may not translate as the generation evolves alongside a rapidly changing world.
