The business world in general is constantly evolving. Just as businesses are starting to hire freelance professionals to do work such as accounting, marketing and social media, and customer service from home. So is true for freelance journalist. Typically, a freelance journalist should be a professional with a vast array of experience in the field. The thinking should be that freelance journalist should be self­motivated with a strong work ethic, all while adhering to the roles and responsibilities of traditional workplace journalist. Otherwise, just hiring possibly less experienced freelance journalist might increase the risk of, the work being presented as not being up to the professional practices standards.

While we all seem to have a specific specialization of journalism we want to focus on. The opportunity to go outside of your comfort zone and experience a new genre, might make becoming a freelance journalist worth­wild.

While the professional practice of journalism typically falls on the Journalist, themselves. Any Journalist, regardless of freelance or permanent status, all represent the news organization they write for.
