1. I disagree with this because I believe sometimes people may not realize they are good at something until they try it out. An outside party, like the manager for example, may realize this person is a better fit in a department they may have no considered. Letting someone choose may make motivation and enthusiasm stay high in the workplace, but so does realizing potential that someone did not realize was there themselves.

2. I disagree with this because committees and task forces from different departments may have been cross trained for another department and may know how to do that job very well. It all depends on the person and the situation. Also, some people are hard workers and other people are just plain lazy. Again, just depends on the person and the situation.

3. I agree with this statement because I think it helps management keep control of the key elements of the workplace that are a very important part of the workplace. If they contract out some work they may lose control of these key work units.

Chapter 5

1. I disagree with this. I don't think managers are put in the position of "dancing to someone else's tune" because everyone has their own management style and everyone is their own person. Also, that's a weird phrase and they should reword that.

2. I agree with this but I also believe it has to do with what product or service the business is trying to sell to people and how much of a want or need for this product or service there is currently.

3. I disagree. I think it is okay for managers to borrow other techniques but they have to find a proper method that works for themselves and the organization's needs.
