There is a wealth of human resource information system (HRIS) packages available to assist organizations with their succession planning processes. However, not every package is suitable for every organization. It is important to be able to critically analyze available HRIS packages to determine their applicability for unique succession planning goals and needs. In this Discussion, you explore various options for HRIS packages, and you evaluate which options have the greatest ability to fulfill specific organizational needs.

Evaluate the effectiveness of HRIS packages.

• Explain the basic functions that most HRIS packages have to offer an organization and why using an HRIS package might be superior to other approaches historically used to address a company's needs.
