Technology has changed how we accomplish many tasks on and off the job. Think of a task you now perform using technology, that was performed without technology in the past, preferably workplace related ( I proctor test for the Air Force). Prepare a brief report to post on blackboard explaining:

The task itself - the what, when, where and how

How it was performed without technology (or with older technology)

How it is now performed with (newer) technology

How this has improved efficiency and/or effectiveness of the performance

My Post (Please help me with any correction I need to change before I post to blackboard)

Testing Administrator for Active Duty Air Force:

Air Force has changed majority of their testing from paper testing to electronic testing. Like anything, there are pros and cons in paper testing vs. electronic testing.

Paper Test

Air Force testing such as Course 5, Squadron Office School (SOS) Air Command and Staff College (ACSC), Air War College (AWC) and all Career Development Course (CDC) and Professional Military Education were administered on paper. Students would sign up through the Education Center.

The test would come to the Education office and put in a safe. The test administrator would match the answer sheet with the test book not opening the test but by looking through a windowed envelope, and would write on the outside of the envelope the Air Force member's name, test identification (ID) number, social security number, and log the test in a log book.

The day of test, members would test and circle their answers in the test book and put their answers on an OMR classroom answer sheet, Air Education and Training Command (AETC) form 1200. The test administrator would mail it out, and member would get their results within four to six weeks.

Electronic Test

Now, students go to Air University (AU) website and order examine and go online to schedule their test through Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC). Once the member has finished taking their test, the member will receive their score as soon as they have completed the test. The tests are uploaded to AU database, where the score are posted to the member's education records in a matter of days.

The new way of administering test has made it very quick, easy and convenient. The downside is when the systems are down; all testing has to be canceled until further notice. There have been times when members had to retake the test because their scores did not post due to system failure.
