Task
You will form groups of no more than 3 students per group.
You are required to view a movie – Remember the Titians. This will be provided for you and more information will be provided on interact.
Prepare a group report that does the following:
• You are to identify from this movie the various leaders in the movie. They may not all be lead characters;
• Describe their name, briefly their role and then go on to identify the strengths and weaknesses they demonstrated as leaders during the movie. You may wish to give each person a character or two to write up and research;
• Go on to assess their success as leaders in the movie. Justify your opinion with research from the literature that demonstrates what effective leadership is. Relate this information to leadership theory. This can be trait leadership, situational leadership, servant leadership or any documented leadership theory that you believes is appropriate; and
• Reflect on which aspects of leadership that your group has uncovered in the research that could be most helpful in the workplace. Justify your opinion with literature.
Please Note - this may also be conducted as an individual report depending on the number and location of students.
Rationale
Leadership skills and development is critical for your career development. Being able to identify traits and behaviours that demonstrate good leadership is essential. This assignment will focus you on understand what good leadership looks like and allow you to reflect on how this impacts the workplace. Being able to plan, prepare and present a project as a group is also a critical skill.
