Sustainability is the key word emerging from proactively managing the creation of value from programmes and portfolios. Allow me to shift focus to a specific facet of organisational sustainability. Labuschagne& Brent (2006) emphasize the importance of the social dimension of sustainable development and the shift in social-related concerns, thus proposing a set of social impact indicators for measuring the respective sustainability dimension.

Question: How much importance should we attribute to the social dimension of sustainable development in the business altar? Is it may be overestimated? If not, what social indicators can drive an effective and accurate measurement of the social impact of project management and under what preconditions?
