Students are required to collectively select a NEW event opportunity they believe has potential; students should consult their lecturer when choosing their idea. Students are required to prepare an Event Proposal for a festival or major event in the state where their campus is located (ie Sydney campus students plan for NSW event while Melbourne campus students discuss Victoria). It may be staged in a regional or metropolitan location with an expected attendance of at least 10,000 visitors and running over a minimum of two (2) days. This event must also be attractive to the tourism sector as well as the host community.The festival or special event will be a new development opportunity that should align with the region's destination strategy and attributes (ie of the state where your campus is located). This task should not be an analysis of an existing event. Students can 'import' elements of an event from overseas/elsewhere but will need to provide evidence on how it would be developed for local conditions and alternative market (host community, visitors and tourists).Students will need to ensure their event is novel. The proposal will need to include a brief description of a co-creative element (visitor interaction and experience) - that is, that includes a co-creative installation for audience participation.
