WHS Professionals need to be able to influence, advise and educate a diverse range of stakeholders who will range from Board members to apprentices and everything in between. The use of social media is fast becoming an accepted and effective way to both communicate and educate in the workplace. The ability to understand technological platforms and how to use them to deliver content in a creative and engaging way is a benefit for all professionals. In addition as a professional you need to be able to challenge the standards and norms in order to improve WHS practice and part of that is to be able to propose new ideas and justify different approaches.

In fact one of South Australia's Work Health & Safety Youth Strategy 2014 - 2018 is to "promote the use of social media to better connect with young workers.

An aim of this program and the purpose of this assignment is to increase your comfort level using social media and to use an alternate forum to challenge traditional safety ideas. Blogging is a more informal manner of writing however it is important to still justify your discussion with academic referencing.

The outcome of this assignment is to write a blog aimed at Safety Measurement. This particular blog is to be directed at your peers and the purpose is to challenge traditional approaches to safety measurement and propose alternatives.

Blog question is: The latest trends of lead and lag indicators- Blog topic

The assignment is in 2 parts, the first is for you to read widely on your topic and summarise it in an academic format and the second is your blog posting. You will be required to post your blog on the uni blog site.

Part A-

Research your blog topic providing current academic background to support or argue your position. A minimum of 5 academic references is required. This information may be contraindicative to your blog position however you will need to include in your actual blog why you don't agree.
