Strategic Management Analysis

Conducting an analysis of the strategic management process of an organization (department, division, or whole company, church, membership group, volunteer group, business, etc.)

 "How well does this organization, or organizational unit, engage in strategic planning?"

The purpose of the analysis  to analyse their strategic planning process, not the strategic plan itself.

1. analyze the organizations goals, strategic plans, performance management mechanisms, the budget, and other elements of the process that apply. 

2. Evaluate the strategic management process of the organization. Questions to consider include:

• Does the organization engage in strategic planning? 
• What elements of the strategic management process can be found in the organzation? What elements are missing? 
• What are the strategic planning strengths or weaknesses of the organization? What steps of the process are they doing well? What steps need improvement?

3. Finally, provide a list of recommendations that you would give to the organization on ways to implement or improve their strategic planning process.
