Hi Jenny,

I hope this email finds you well.

I have received your details through Travis, who has highly recommended your services.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to come on board for the production of our next media Campaign, which will be filmed in Brisbane from 13 May, for 4 weeks. We are hoping to do the shoot outdoors; however, there is some rain forecast during that time. We have an indoor location on Level 11 of our building we can use but the lighting can be challenging, based on past experience.

Our aim is to highlight the dangers of first degree burns and we need to make sure that peeling skin can be seen in the shoot.

As a contractor for this position, we are happy to offer you the following terms:

a) A daily rate of $245 for 5 days per week and a total of four weeks - (eight hours of work per day and this will be pro-rated if less hours are worked within the day)

b) You need to provide all the special equipment required for the work - (we have arranged a professional photographer and lighting person for the shoot)

c) You have to be available from 8am - 5pm throughout the four week period: 13 May to 13 June. You have to produce your own replacement if you are unable to make it to work for any reason and this person has to be a qualified make-up artist

d) Please feel free to make any necessary changes to the terms that you want to be reconsidered and return the signed contract within 7 days together with your ABN and bank details.

I look forward to speaking to you in the near future.

Regards,

Megan Lister

Marketing Manager

Cancer Council

Question 1: Assuming that you are looking for a higher daily rate than what is offered, what are the considerations that you would look for when negotiating the given rate?

Question 2: Given that you are based in Melbourne and the photoshoot is taking place in Brisbane, how would you factor this into the stated contract?

Question 3: Given that you are expected to supply all the special equipment for the job, what would you expect to be provided from the organisers to ensure that you can do your job effectively?

Question 4: Since this is the first job offer, who might you seek advice from to ensure that you have all the necessary terms covered to get the job completed?

Question 5: "Our aim is to highlight the dangers of first degree burns and we need to make sure that peeling skin can be seen in the shoot." With this as the given aim of the photoshoot, what sort of research will you conduct to ensure that your client's aims are met?

Question 6: In any photoshoot, there will always be more than one stakeholder (clients, models, staff, agencies) who will need to be pleased. How would you prepare yourself to meet the demands and changes to situations at the photoshoot?

Question 7: While checking the dates of the photoshoot, you realised that you have a family wedding to attend on the 1st of June. You cannot cancel it as it would cause terrible problems with the family. How would you factor this into the negotiations for this contract? What back up plans would you put in place given that the contract has stated the client's expectations very clearly?

Question 8: With regards to this proposed job opportunity, what sort of insurance covers do you think you would need?

Question 9: When you return the signed contract asking for a higher rate, Megan comes back with a counter offer of 15% less than what you have asked for. Would you accept or reject the offer? Provide an explanation for your decision.
