Whenever it comes to Internet security, here is an interesting problem: Should flaws in the company's computer system be reported publicly to alert the possible victims and to encourage people to fix the problems fast, or should information regarding security flaws be suppressed and kept secret to help prevent rogues and scoundrels from exploiting the system and causing even more damage? So one option is transparency, where the workings of a system are open and made public and the protection comes from passwords, cryptographic keys and other built-in controls. The other option is termed as ‘security by obscurity, a model which attempts to stifle open discussion regarding security weaknesses. Which of these two options do you consider to be most morally acceptable?
