Setting the scene-

Assume that you have graduated from Deakin University and have been short-listed for a graduate position in Virgin Australia or BHP Billiton. For the next stage of the position selection process, you have been asked to provide a report that analyses the organisation and your personal fit in the culture of that organisation.

To prepare for this assignment you are advised to complete the following steps.

1. Check the assignment due dates and plan your preparation and drafting of the report.

2. Read the report writing information on the Study support site: http://www.deakin.edu.au/students/study-support/academic-resources/report-writing.

3. Read and complete all activities for Topics 1-4 in the unit.

4. Complete Topics 1-4 of the ‘MyManagementLab' StudyPlan and Assignment activities.

5. Complete the ‘Personal insight' Quiz in Chapter 2 (p. 46) and reflect on your findings.

6. Carefully research information about your selected organisation (see below).

7. Cite and reference at least one academic journal article for each section of the body covering questions 1 to 4 below (a minimum of 4 academic journal articles). Finding and citing academic journal articles is a requirement in this assignment. We suggest you to read and cite relevant academic articles in the recommended reading list Weeks 1 to 4 on MMM132 Cloud.

8. Complete all three parts of the Faculty of Business & Law Academic Integrity Module. You must access and complete this Academic Integrity Module in the MMM132 Cloud site Assessment Folder. You cannot access the MMM132 Assignment Drop-box under the Assessment tab to submit your assignment until you have successfully completed the Academic Integrity Module in the MMM132 Cloud site.

Report requirements-

1. Describe the purpose of this organisation, its mission in 2016, profit/not-for-profit orientation, and locations.

2. Describe any three external environmental factors/conditions relevant to this organisation in 2016. Analyse the impact of these factors on the organisation and how the organisation could deal with these factors.

3. Discuss and evaluate the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ethics of this organisation with reference to the theories on pp. 52-59 of the textbook.

4. Complete the personal insights quiz "What's the Right Organisational Culture for Me?" in Chapter 2, p. 46 of your textbook. Then report on your results from this quiz and reflect on how well you think you might fit into this organisation and its organisational culture. (See pp. 42-44 and Figure 2.3 of the textbook to guide your discussion).
