Attractiveness Assignment-
Select a foreign country (JAPAN) on which to perform a marketing analysis. All outside data contained in the marketing analysis must be properly cited and listed per APA guidelines. Maximum page length is three pages (not including cover or reference page).
The analysis will follow the outline given below with approximate lengths as shown. The use of bulleted lists is authorized. Single line spacing is allowed in paragraphs, with double-spacing between paragraphs. Write this as a BUSINESS REPORT, not an academic paper: focus on conciseness, clarity, and concrete facts. Spelling and grammar COUNT: edit your work.
General description of country and its economy:
International and/or Trade relationships (1-2 paragraphs)
Political and Legal Factors (1-2 paragraphs)
Market Segmentation Issues:
Choice of segmentation criteria with rationale (1-3 paragraphs)
Income level issues (1 paragraph)
Currency Issues (convertibility, repatriation, access) (1 para.)
Product Positioning Issues: (1-3 paragraphs for each of these three)
Pricing
Distribution
Promotion
Overall Assessment of Country's Attractiveness for Trade: (1 para.)

NOTE: countries discussed in these sections of the text CANNOT be used in the Market Attractiveness Analysis.
(SEPARATE AND 2ND ASSIGNMENT) - GLOBAL MARKETING PLAN ASSIGNMENT
Select a product -HAND BAGS-and assume that the first country you plan to market to will be Japan for which a Market Attractiveness Analysis was don For the Global Marketing Plan, you are going to do the preliminary research and thinking normally required before writing a full-blown marketing plan.
The assignment will be a business report, 4 pages long, single-spaced with one-inch margins. You will use the following headings and answer the indicated questions.
Offering Description and Desired Positioning (What is your offering? Is it standardized or localized? Why? How do you want to position it in this new country? What segment are you aiming for in that country? Refer to Chapters 11-13.)
Country/Offering Match (How well does your offering fit in this country's marketplace? See Chapters 7-10 for ideas on this.)
Pricing (How will you set your price? What other financial issues concern you? Look at Chapter 14.)
Distribution Plan (How will you get the offering to market? Chapter 15.)
Advertising & Promotion Plan (How, in general, will you advertise the offering? What media will be used and why? Chapters 16 and 17 may help in this; remember to link to country's preferences and conditions.)
Ethical Concerns (Are there any ethical concerns with selling your product in this country or in dealing with the country itself? Consider such things as the historic ethical issues with selling cigarettes or baby formula in developing countries.)
