School Counseling:

Refer to your response and the feedback you received in the first Unit 7 discussion, Using Data, which addressed a data profile of Model Middle School.

Compiling your response to that discussion and the critique (the feedback you received from fellow learners), incorporate your findings into a one-page outline covering the following:

Outline the identified gaps or needs in the Middle School.

Outline a program to address those gaps or needs. Include prevention (such as classroom guidance) and intervention (such as individual or small group counseling), as appropriate.

Analyze your original suggestions, as posted in the Unit 7 discussion, and the manner in which your program design changed as a result of that analysis. This can also be written in outline format.

Address academic, career, personal-social, and developmental needs in your program outline.

RESPONSE FROM UNIT 7:

According to Davis (2015), "One of the first activities of school counselors when they secure a job as a school counselor is to review the school's data report card."

It is important for school counselors to know the environment in which they serve to provide adequate support. In the data from the page 236, I noticed a significant trend in the data.

As the Hispanic students increased the other races seemed to decline in the school. Also, I noticed that safety became a issue increasingly.

The school counselors should put programs in place to increase safety awareness and disorderly/disruptive behaviors.

Based on the D.A.T.A template my question would be "How can school counselors effectively improve the school data pertaining to disorderly conduct?" I would collect my data by identifying the main causes of disorderly conduct and how it can be improved. I would then develop a goal to tackle the conduct. With the help of administration, this goal can be achieved as well as other school personnel.
